Facial Acupuncture FAQ

This rejuvenation and revitalization process is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Your face reflects your overall health and facial rejuvenation acupuncture treats the underlying conditions that affect the way you look. Before you try invasive and expensive surgical procedures, try a natural approach!

WHY FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE?

Feeling better leads to looking better. Facial acupuncture rejuvenation may mark the first time you are asked about background ailments as part of a beauty treatment! You may find comfort in the knowledge that many others have preceded you. Facial acupuncture has been a ‘trend’ since the 9th Century Sung Dynasty in China where it was used as part of the health and beauty regime of the Empresses and royal consorts.

Each person shows age differently – our experiences and ailments tell our own personal stories on our faces and in our bodies. Facial acupuncture starts with a constitutional treatment that addresses underlying imbalances – reducing stress, improving digestion and sleep quality, as well as strengthening your immune system.

IS FACIAL REJUVENATION RIGHT FOR ME?

Facial rejuvenation is a natural and safe alternative to surgical or other invasive cosmetic procedures. But it is not for everyone. It is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, individuals who have a pacemaker or who have a problem with bleeding or bruising, or who currently suffer from migraine headaches.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture should not be done during pregnancy, during a bout with a cold or flu, during an allergic attack or during an acute herpes outbreak or within 3 weeks of Botox, Restylane or Collagen injections. Please contact us, so we can discuss whether you are a candidate for facial rejuvenation acupuncture.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS SHOULD I PLAN FOR?

Chinese medicine is an ancient tradition, but it is not magic! It is a medicine that utilizes a natural approach. It took years for stress to make its mark, and you need to allow your body time to erase it. Just as a single visit to the gym doesn’t get us ready for a marathon or fashion show, one facial acupuncture treatment won’t bring complete results either.

Plan for a course of 12 treatments: twice weekly for 6 weeks. By the 7th treatment in the series, the effects should be increasingly apparent. Responses vary, based on each person’s life-style and individual health status and history. Intermittent maintenance is recommended in order to prolong results: a treatment every few months after the full treatment cycle.

HOW LONG DO THE SESSIONS LAST?

Your first visit will last about 2 hours. Follow-up treatments will take 90 minutes.
